Social Determinants of Health
April 23, 5:30
Little Five Points Community Center*
April’s professional development event on social determinants of health features something for evaluators working in many sectors—not just health. Education, housing, employment, transport—all affect a population’s health, and evaluators must be prepared to consider where they intersect.
Join us as Marilyn Metzler provides an overview of health equity concepts and major components of the World Health Organization’s framework on the social determinants of health and then engages with us in a conversation about its relevance to evaluation. Marilyn is the senior analyst for health equity in the Division of Violence Prevention at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Networking and snacks start at 5:30, program at 6:00. The event is free for members, $20 for nonmembers ($10 for fellows, interns, and students). Not yet a member? Join at www.atl-eval.org; $40 for professionals, $25 for fellows, interns, and students. We’ll adjourn to the Wrecking Bar to continue the discussion around 7:30.
*The Little Five Points Community Center is at 1083 Austin Ave NE, Atlanta, GA 30307. We’ll be meeting in the room the opens on to the parking lot that faces Euclid. It’s just a couple of blocks from the Inman Park Marta station, too.
